BMMB is committed to providing our students with the training and resources necessary to be successful in attaining rewarding careers. BMMB hosts events that bring in speakers, recruiters, and skill-development sessions. We partner with the Graduate School, the Biology Graduate Program, the Chemistry Graduate Program, and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences on many events to ensure our students are exposed to a wide area of careers and professional development events. The goal of this program is to expose our students early on to the breadth of career paths in science as well as to assist the student in identifying skills required for these careers. BMMB maintains a LinkedIn group to keep in contact with our alumni as well as connect our current students to our alumni.
Career Day is a day-long (8 a.m.–4 p.m.), educational & networking event for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to learn about a wide range of career options and experiences available in the biomedical sciences and public health.
Three former Penn State Biology Graduate Students, Drs. Jaime Blair (Franklin and Marshall College), Susan Carney (Hood College), and Robert Carey (Lebanon Valley College) will join us for a panel to discuss their academic journeys with our current graduate students.
The Graduate School at Penn State is hosting its annual Career Exploration Workshop. Intended for currently-enrolled graduate students, including Penn State World Campus students and students at campuses other than University Park, participants are invited for an opportunity to network with their fellow graduate students.
