  1. Assignment of credit is about academic contribution, not a percentage of effort. Assignment of credit is used as the basis of research incentive funds (RIF) and annual research expenditures. The percentages determine faculty activity reporting and RIF distribution.  This is decided by the project team and routed to the department head(s) for review and approval.
  2. Penn State IAF personnel tab, section on assignment of credit
  1. Higher education research and development (HERD) categories are a completely different thing than the assignment of credit. HERD is about scientific disciplines.
