The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Penn State invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. The search is open to any area of astronomy and astrophysics.

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Penn State invites applications for multiple tenure-track assistant professor appointments in the broad areas of microbiology—including bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, and virology—and genetics and cell and developmental biology.

The position is open to all areas of pure mathematics, including dynamical systems, geometry, geometrical analysis, and algebra. Candidates whose research complements existing strengths or fosters connections within mathematics and across departments are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Mathematics at Penn State invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor or an associate professor position in applied mathematics. The department seeks to expand its expertise in applied mathematics, including mathematics applied to the life sciences in areas such as data-driven modeling, mathematical biology, mathematical biofluids, and biomedicine. Candidates whose research complements existing strengths or fosters interdisciplinary connections across departments are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Mathematics at Penn State invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor or an associate professor position in computational mathematics. While the primary focus is on recruiting candidates for the assistant professor level, candidates at the associate professor level may also be considered. The department seeks to expand its expertise in numerical analysis and scientific computing, with interest in areas such as numerical methods for PDEs, scientific machine learning, quantum computing, data-driven modeling, and data science. Candidates whose research complements existing strengths or fosters interdisciplinary connections across departments are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Physics at Penn State invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of associate or full professor, to start in fall 2025. We will consider theorists in all subfields with a preference for research portfolios that overlap with the area of quantum science.

Competitive applicants will have a Ph.D., a record of creative research accomplishments, a compelling and original future research plan, an ability to achieve teaching excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community in the practice and teaching of science.

The Department of Statistics at Penn State invites applications for one tenure-track assistant professor position. We are open to candidates in all specialties within statistics. Of special interest are candidates with expertise in machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and methods for massive data, but candidates in all other areas of statistics will also receive full consideration. Faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in research, teaching, and contributing to a positive and inclusive climate.

The Department of Statistics at Penn State invites applications for one open-rank tenure-track position with an emphasis on astrostatistics, although candidates in other areas of statistics will be considered. The Department of Statistics has long fostered interdisciplinary research at the interface of statistics, astronomy and astrophysics, and the computational and data sciences. It boasts one of the world’s leading research groups in the statistical analysis of astronomical data, as evidenced by the Center for Astrostatistics. The Center for Astrostatistics has trained generations of astronomers in the statistical analysis of astronomical data by organizing annual summer schools and workshops. Faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in research, teaching, and contributing to a positive and inclusive climate.
