Jennifer McElhinney

Jen joined Penn State University in October 2017, starting in Research Accounting before moving to the Eberly College of Science Research Office in 2020. Since then, she has continued to grow her experience in research administration and financial management while supporting faculty, staff, and research team!

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Educational Studies from Walden University and her Associate of Science in Business from Middlesex Community College. Jen received her ACES certification in 2019 and became a RACC Certified Research Administrator in May 2025.

Jen has also been involved in professional service opportunities, including serving on the ACOR Retreat Planning Committee in 2019 and participating in ACOR Fellows in 2022. 

Before moving into higher education, Jen spent 14 years working in a Montessori preschool, where she wore many hats including preschool teacher and assistant director. That experience helped shape her people-focused approach and strong organizational skills.

Originally from Massachusetts, Jen loves visiting family and friends in New England whenever she can. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time at the beach and in the mountains, reading and listening to audiobooks, and cheering on New England and Penn State sports teams. She’s also the proud mom of two children in their 20s.
