Alex Chen receives the Patil-Taille Award

Patil-Taille Award was established in 2014 to honor and recognize an undergraduate student who has demonstrated forethought and application of the use of statistics in the study of the environment.
 
Alex is an undergraduate student in statistical data science. He has been working with Susan Brantley (Distinguished Professor of Geosciences) and Lingzhou Xue (Assistant Professor of Statistics) on the environmental statistics research. He has published a paper in Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts, which is the flagship journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
