I have a BS degree in Medical Technology and have extensive work experience from clinical labs in hospitals and research labs. My hospital experience started as a generalist in all areas of the clinical laboratory and then I specialized in the field of transfusion medicine. I have experience in the implementation of a Laboratory Information System, various clinical analyzers and manual methods for blood and body fluid analysis. While in the research lab I worked at the General Clinical Research Center (a NIH funded facility) and assisted with various types of human research. I learned new skills (EKGs and DXAs) and was the clinical liason for laboratory testing. Currently I am the supervisor of the Microbiology and Biochemistry Prep Room staff who are in charge of preparing media and reagents for the undergraduate BMB and Micro labs as well as the Academic Advisor for the CLS Program. Throughout my years of working I have taken various classes geared towards teaching for the health professions and have received a certificate in Distance Education. While working at the hospital I have had adjunct appointments as a clinical educator for MLT and MT programs.

I am available to speak with any student who is interested in finding out more about the Clinical Laboratory Science option of the Biotechnology major. I offer drop in advising, but would prefer to have scheduled appointments so that I can have a dedicated time for the student. If I am your assigned advisor, please email me or call (814-863-0803) to schedule an appointment.
