Center of Excellence in Industrial Biotechnology (CoEIB)

The Center of Excellence in Industrial Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary activity that leverages expertise across Penn State. The CoEIB provides a focal point for Penn State’s programs in the area of industrial biotechnology, including the development of research and educational initiatives focused on biopharmaceutical manufacturing, the production of bio-based chemicals and fuels, and food biotechnology.

 

CSL Behring Shared Fermentation Facility

The CSL Behring Fermentation Facility is a biotechnology pilot plant capable of research- and pilot-scale production of microbial cells, recombinant proteins, and other microbial products over a wide range of controlled conditions. The facility provides equipment and expertise to university-affiliated and independent government and industry researchers interested in fermentation and related technologies, including cell separation and disruption, biomolecule production and purification, process monitoring, and conversion of biomass into biofuels and bio-chemicals.
