Susan Clutter received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Clark University and a master’s degree in Forensic Science from George Washington University. She worked as a crime scene investigator for both Montgomery County and Baltimore City Police Departments in Maryland before becoming a college professor in 2003, teaching at various schools in the Maryland and Virginia area. Professor Clutter has also written and taught curriculum for the Virginia Fire Marshal Academy and the State Department Antiterrorism Assistance Program (ATA). Most recently, Professor Clutter taught fourteen years as a Full Professor in the Forensic Science program at Youngstown State University in Ohio, where she received Distinguished Professor awards in the disciplines of teaching, scholarship and service.
Professor Clutter is the co-author of a textbook entitled ‘So You Want to Be a CSI?’ which was published by Kendall Hunt in 2021. The book also includes a virtual crime scene component for students to gain hands-on experience without the need of a mock scene laboratory.
