Emilee Yaeger selected as the 2019 Eberly College of Science Cooperative Education Student of the Year

Emilee Yaeger, an undergraduate student in the Science BS/MBA accelerated joint degree program, has been selected as the recipient of the 2019 Eberly College of Science Cooperative Education Student of the Year Award. The award recognizes the student’s academic achievements and contributions to the participating employer, the University, the community, and the field of cooperative education.

Yaeger was nominated by Lynne Mello of Hasbro, where she completed an eight-month co-op experience.

While at Hasbro, Yaeger worked in the Global Planning department where she helped to track the global supply of items at warehouses and created production plans for vendors to match global demands. Mello noted that Yaeger’s strongest quality was that she learned quickly with little need for explanation. Yaeger also took advantage of opportunities to connect with other departments at Hasbro to better understand how the company functioned and how outside influences could affect the business.

“When Emilee left in August, she was a well-rounded seasoned global planner who took on many responsibilities while still maintaining a status at Penn State and volunteering with the team at Hasbro whenever the opportunity presented itself,” said Mello.

“My interest has always been to explore how a science mindset, with strengths in problem-solving and analytics, can change and advance areas of business,” said Yaeger. “Hasbro gave me my first opportunity to successfully apply this interest to my career, supported me in exploring new avenues, and inspired me to continue to pursue my interest through the Science BS/MBA program and after graduation.”

Yaeger will graduate from the Eberly College of Science with a bachelor’s of science degree in May 2020 and with a master's of business administration degree from the Smeal College of Business in May 2022.

"We are delighted to have Emilee in the BS/MBA Program,” said Louis Martarano, director of the Science BS/MBA program. “She is one of those students whose enthusiasm, encouragement of others, and ability to willingly assist is a boon to the program.”
