This false color fluorescent light micrograph by Claire Thomas, associate professor of biology and of biochemistry and molecular biology, features fruit fly follicle cells. Here, fluorescently stained follicle cells surround three successively larger chambers, each of which contains a growing egg. This micrograph was displayed as part of a collection of science-related artwork—curated by Thomas—at a Penn State conference about art in science communication and later at Webster’s Bookstore Café in downtown State College.
