The William G. Hunter Award, presented annually in honor of the founding chair of the Statistics Division of the American Society for Quality to a person whose qualities mirror those of Bill Hunter.
This includes substantial contributions to statistical consulting, education for practitioners, and integration of statistics with other disciplines as well as demonstrated excellence in communication and implementing innovative applied statistical methods.
George Box, Stuart Hunter and William G. Hunter wrote what has become a classic text for experimenters in scientific and business circles, Statistics for Experimenters.
William G. Hunter was an Innovator and Catalyst for Quality Improvement. Bill founded the ASQC Statistics division which presents the Hunter Award to recognize accomplishments in the development and creative application of statistics in problem solving.
