The 2021 Braddock Scholarship, of up to $8,000 annually, is available to outstanding high school seniors who are interested in the study of Astronomy & Astrophysics, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Forensic Science, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Physics, or Pre-Medicine at Penn State's University Park campus. Several scholarships are offered annually to incoming students, and the selection is based on the essays and recommendation letters submitted using the application below, and overall strength of the student's high school performance and extra-curricular achievements. The applicant’s high school transcript should indicate an emphasis on science coursework or be consistent with the intent to major in one of the indicated disciplines.
The 2021 McKinstry Scholarship, which is up to full tuition and half of on-campus room and board costs, is available to outstanding high school seniors who are interested in the study of Biology or Pre-Medicine at Penn State's University Park campus and who are identified as having high financial need as determined by their FAFSA form. Two to three awards may be made annually, and the selection uses the same application and selection process as the Braddock scholarship. The applicant’s high school transcript should indicate an emphasis on life science coursework or be consistent with the intent to major in one of the indicated disciplines.
The Braddock and McKinstry Scholarships are for prospective students who plan to be full-time students at the University Park campus and will major in any of the listed disciplines. The scholarships are renewable for up to four years or until the student has earned 130 Penn State credits. The scholarships are contingent upon making progress toward one of the degrees listed above. The annual award, in conjunction with a Schreyer Honors College award and any other permitted scholarships or aid, may not exceed the student’s cost of Penn State tuition, room and board. Braddock or McKinstry scholars are not eligible to receive the Millennium Scholars Award.
