John C. Mather, Ph.D. is a Nobel prize winner in physics for cosmology and is the chief scientist for NASA's James Webb Space Telescope. This lecture is free and open to the public. All are welcome!

Ronald M. and Susan J. Friedman Endowed Lectureship in Astronomy and Astrophysics
Dr. Mather will speak on the design and launch of JWST, and outline some of its spectacular discoveries in its first year.
Prior to, and following, the lecture in 100 Thomas, exhibits featuring images from the James Webb Space Telescope will be available. Penn State researchers in astronomy will be present to explain the images and discuss current research. Dr. Mather will have the 2nd edition of his book available for sale and autographs.
