Melissa Rolls, Paul Berg Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, examines fruit flies under the microscope. She and her lab use this model system to study the biology of neurons and to ask questions about how neurons develop specialized structures—axons and dendrites—with a variety of functions.
