David G. Maskalick and Kathleen A. Maskalick
Biodiversity Healthcare Seed Grant Program

The David G. Maskalick and Kathleen A. Maskalick Biodiversity Healthcare Seed Grant Fund is committed to promoting protection of biodiversity and supporting the prevention of mass extinction of life on earth. Funds will aim to further knowledge regarding health and survival of all life and natural resources, humanity and commerce. For example, research efforts can be directed toward generating discoveries and/or inventions that demonstrate a natural resource, chemical, or species is critical for an ecosystem’s health and survival.

  • The goal is to create preliminary data for submission of larger external grants focused on protection of biodiversity.
  • The purpose is to provide financial support that will enable researchers to fund a reagent, travel or equipment usage for preliminary data with a focus on enhancing biodiversity.
  • The intent is to stimulate and foster the research on biodiversity within ECoS.

Researchers who apply for funds should be prepared to use the preliminary data to apply for larger biodiversity focused funding. If granted, the Maskalick Biodiversity Healthcare Seed Grant Fund will provide $1,500 to 2,500 of grant monies to the Principal Investigator (PI).
