I’m interested in learning more about the herpes simplex virus genome and the viral genes that are associated with more virulent phenotypes in a variety of host genetic backgrounds.  My current research entails making recombinant viruses to test these genetic associations in a mouse model of infection.  Identifying viral genes in herpes simplex that promote virulence can be important in developing useful tools for clinical screenings or for future therapeutic intervention.  When I have the time, I like climbing really, really tall mountains, playing with my dog Bruno, and playing table top role playing games and board games
