The Nittany Chemical Society (NCS), Penn State’s student affiliate chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS), has recently been awarded a Commendable Award from the ACS’s Society Committee on Education. Student chapter awards are granted by this committee to ACS student chapters each year on the basis of their programs and activities as described in their yearly reports. The awards are divided into four categories: the Outstanding Award, the Commendable Award, Honourable Mention, and the Green Chemistry Award. The NCS has received the Commendable Award for the past three years.
The NCS aims to spread the love of science and chemistry to the student body and the wider community. The NCS has twenty-five members and participates in outreach events such as handing out periodic tables for Mole Day, National Chemistry Week, Haunted-U, service at the Bellefonte Youth Center, Radio Park Elementary School Science Night, the Science Involvement Fair, the University Involvement Fair, Networking events with faculty, and sponsorship of local speakers.
Please join the Department of Chemistry in congratulating the Nittany Chemical Society on this accomplishment.
