Lauren Zarzar Named Recipient of the Rustum and Della Roy Innovation in Materials Research Award

Assistant Professor of Chemistry Lauren Zarzar has been named a 2019 recipient of the Rustum And Della Roy Innovation In Materials Research Award, in recognition of her work with dynamic materials and accomplishments in research in materials chemistry. 

The Rustum and Della Roy Innovation in Materials Research Award is designed to honor interdisciplinary materials research at Penn State which yields innovative and unexpected results. Three awards are granted annually.

The Zarzar group focuses on dynamic materials that sense and adapt to their surroundings are primed to be integral components of future technologies. The group explores a multitude of platforms, including both hard and soft materials.  Department of Chemistry Head Phil Bevilacqua remarked, “We are so pleased for Lauren. It is especially meaningful to see Lauren’s creativity and excellence recognized here at Penn State. I look forward to joining her at the awards celebration.”

Dr. Zarzar will be honored on October 30 during the Materials Day celebration at the Millennium Science Complex.
