Eberly College remembers Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Jenn Lawrence

4 February 2025

The Penn State Eberly College of Science community is mourning the loss of Jennifer Lawrence, assistant director of alumni relations, who died on Jan. 30, 2025.

Jennifer Lawrence

In her more than 13 years with Penn State’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations, Lawrence served in several roles, most recently as assistant director of alumni relations in the Eberly College of Science.

“Jenn worked diligently to shepherd forward and strengthen the Eberly alumni-college bond,” said Mike Weyandt, the college’s senior director of development and alumni relations. “She will continue to be an inspiration for anyone who has come up against adversity. Two quotes that she lived by were ‘Today is not for giving up’ and ‘True strength is keeping everything together when everyone expects you to fall apart.’ You will be missed, my friend!”

Lawrence worked at Penn State for more than 23 years and was an alumna of the Penn State Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, graduating in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

University colleagues also shared remembrances:

  • “Jenn was a quiet, fearless force that sojourned with relentless perseverance and grit.”
  • “Despite the terrible battle Jenn faced, she never gave up or gave in. Often, she used humor to get through her treatments. She said she planned to be ‘glowing’ after completion of her radiation treatments! She was more than a colleague — she was a friend, and she will be missed.”
  • Over the years of working with her, she was a quiet, strong, steady force in the office and life. She was ready to provide help in any way when asked. Her strength and kindness will always be remembered!”

Prior to joining Penn State, Lawrence was enlisted in the United States Air Force.

An obituary is posted on the Barbara Daughenbaugh Funeral Home website.
