Jan Van Rigglen

There is a new face walking the halls of South Frear Laboratory.  The BMB Department welcomed Dr. Jan van Riggelen to the faculty as an instructor.

Dr. van Riggelen received his Ph.D. from the German Cancer Research Center and University of Heidelberg, Germany, followed by postdoctoral research at Stanford University on ‘oncogene addition’. Subsequently, he became faculty at the Medical College of Georgia, where his laboratory discovered that the MYC oncogene controls DNA methylation on a genome-wide scale.

At Penn State University Dr. van Riggelen holds a joint appointment in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department in the Eberly College of Science and the College of Medicine, where he will apply his expertise to teaching undergraduate, graduate and medical curriculum courses.

Welcome Dr. van Riggelen!  Welcome to the team!
