Abstract: "In this talk I will describe an attempt to understand the
fermion spectrum of the Standard Model (with three generations of quarks
and leptons, and no "extra baggage") from a more fundamental theory. One
interesting possible consequence of this scheme is the emergence of new
super-heavy dark matter candidates."
