Event Series:
This talk will focus on the fundamental interactions at the Organic glass interfaces, and why they are important to understand. I will begin with a high level introduction to various factors that control adhesion and the different mechanisms which affect adhesion in our everyday materials. Then, I will focus on a specific system of Polyimides interacting with Silica glass, a system commonly used in commercial applications. In the context of this example, I will share modeling tools and approaches that we have developed ranging from first principles calculations, to leveraging Molecular dynamics to shed light on the different physics that drive the adhesion at the interface of this system.
