Accurate modeling of neutrino transport plays a crucial role in understanding astrophysical phenomena such as core-collapse supernovae and neutron star mergers. This talk will review the contribution of neutrinos in neutron star mergers and briefly introduce two popular methods for solving the seven dimensional Boltzmann equation, namely the truncated momentum formalism (M1 scheme) and Monte-Carlo algorithms. In addition, a comparative analysis will be given highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of these approaches. Finally, potential opportunities for combining the two methods will be briefly discussed.
