Event Series: Astronomy Colloquium

Abstract:  Advanced LIGO and Virgo have detected ten binary black hole mergers and a binary neutron star merger in their first two observing runs. They recently finished taking data for the third observing run on March 27, 2020. In this talk I will describe what we have learnt so far from the LIGO-Virgo observations, highlighting the most recent results from the third observing run. I will also discuss latest developments in the searches for compact binary coalescences.
