What motivates you to do science?

My primary motivation is making a significant contribution to our understanding of nature and its intricacies. I also want to be an example for all Puerto Rican students who are thinking about pursuing a career in science, for them to be inspired and proud of what a scientist from our small island can achieve!

What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?

Hispanic Heritage Month makes me feel proud that we have such amazing Hispanic scientists that serve as inspiration to us. It also reminds me of where I'm from, what I temporarily left to pursue a career in science. I may be far from home, but I still proudly say every day that I am Boricua and will carry that everywhere I go, pa' que tú lo sepas!
