What motivates you to do/pursue science and/or medicine?

I continue to choose research because of the people who have chosen to empower me. The mentors I’ve had in research labs have helped me become more confident being in a field that struggles to represent people like me. Advancing through science allows me to be that mentor for future students.

What does Black History Month mean to you?

Black History Month is a time of empowerment to highlight the people who typically do not get celebrated daily. It is also a time for self-reflection to assess how you are meeting the needs of Black people in your community.
