My desire stems from wanting to change the health disparities in impoverished neighborhoods like the one I grew up in. Born in New York City and raised in Nigeria, I saw that people's health suffered chronically due to adverse health options and opportunities. This prompted me to want to pursue science/medicine that will make a difference for those I serve.
What does Black History Month mean to you?
Black History Month is a time to honor and celebrate African American individuals' achievements, contributions, and resilience throughout history. As a person, it means acknowledging and appreciating the rich tapestry of African American culture, history, and accomplishments, while also working to amend the challenges that persist in the past, present, and future.
