What motivates you to do/pursue science and/or medicine?

I am forever motivated by all my science mentors and by my parents (former Penn State professors), who initially brought me toward this path. I am inspired to teach future generations about soil, environmental sciences, and climate change so that they can become committed to science, too.

What does Black History Month mean to you?

Black History Month is a celebration of Black accomplishments and struggles and an integral time to recognize our power and determination. It is an appreciation of our progress as a Black community, inspired by a multitude of Black individuals, voices, and culture. Black history inspires me every day.

Anything else you would like to share?

One of my favorite quotes is by Ella Fitzgerald: "Just don’t give up what you’re trying to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong."
