What motivates you to do/pursue science and/or medicine?

At 16 years old, I was introduced to working in a biochemistry lab and volunteering in a hospital. That exposure helped to pique my interest in medicine as a career. I had the opportunity to continue working in a biochemistry lab during my time at Penn State and taking a health-care professions class during that time. There are so many aspects of science and medicine to become involved in. I am motivated to continue in my career because medicine is not black and white. Every day, there is an opportunity to learn something new from science or from my patients, and that motivates me to keep going.

What does Black History Month mean to you?

Remembering the accomplishments of ancestors and reflecting on our role in American history.
