What motivates you to do science?

When I think of the barriers my grandmother and grandfather overcame just to take the same courses as I do, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to spend my time doing what I love. This motivation also stems from the joy I feel in the lab, knowing that every action I take in that space has a meaningful impact.

What does Black History Month mean to you?

To me, Black History Month is a dedicated time to showcase what we have done, who we are, and where we are going as a community. It is both a time be thankful and give praise to those who put in the work to get people of color the opportunities they have now. It is also a time to personally reflect on my own contributions to making not just my country, but also the world, a better place

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I believe that the more marginalized groups make their way into the science/medical field, the more the entire population will benefit.
