To me, Black History Month serves as not only a time to remember the sacrifices made by the courageous people who came before us to ensure a brighter future for their descendants, but also a time to celebrate the many achievements made by Black people. The ability to innovate, even when faced with severe persecution, serves as a constant reminder to remain adamant towards any goal I set for myself.
There is an epidemic of imposter syndrome that, bolstered by messages and assumptions propelled by the media, often permeates the minds of young Black professionals. It is incredibly important to me that every student who walks out the doors of the Eberly College of Science knows that they are just as intelligent and capable as any other, and every achievement and position you obtain is one you've earned!
