Climate and Diversity

Current Initiatives

Initiatives and topics currently under discussion by committee members.

Climate & Diversity Survey (chairs, Keisha Johnson and Melissa Rolls): Developed and deployed a college-wide climate and diversity survey to invite anonymous feedback from all individuals within our college about their experiences and feelings working in ECOS. Collected 800+ responses from December through February. Analysis of these data have begun and will be used to help identify future goals.

Climate & Diversity Awards (chair, Kathryn McClintock): The Dean's Climate and Diversity Awards recipients for 2016 were announced in January.

Communications (chair, Glenn Johnson): Promoted the ECOS Climate & Diversity Survey, arranged for a meeting of Climate & Diversity Committee members from across various colleges, re-organized and updated the ECOS Climate & Diversity website. Future work: updating and streamlining the development of content for digital displays within the college.

Fundraising / Development (chair, Derek Fox): Developed a list of Climate & Diversity-related initiatives that could benefit from targeted fundraising. To be approved by the committee and then forwarded to Dean & Development Office. Looking to coordinate with other College Climate & Diversity committees in these efforts.

Graduate Student Initiatives (chairs, Irina Mociou Fall 2016, Nate Brown Spring 2017):

Postdoc Initiatives (chair, Lasse Jensen): Currently revising the IDP (Individual Development Plan) for Postdocs as well as developing online IDP tool.

Staff Initiatives (chair, Mary McMonagle): Surveying staff in various units/departments regarding staff appreciation ideas, such as: team building, stress relief, training, tools for greater job satisfaction, or efficiency regarding duties.
