I am a current Ph.D. candidate in the Jose lab focusing on the biomolecular aspects of flaviviruses, including Zika and dengue viruses. My research delves into virus assembly, particularly the roles of capsid protein and the viral RNA genome. I have successfully identified a critical region for virus assembly in the Zika capsid protein and developed a novel imaging system to study viral RNA dynamics during infection. My long-term goals are to work in the pharmaceutical industry and help develop therapeutic strategies to improve public health.
