Eberly’s Giving Tuesday 2020 Exceeds Goals

Generous support from the college’s alumni, friends, and faculty fuels fundraising success

Thank you for making the Eberly College of Science’s 2020 Giving Tuesday initiative an overwhelming success—raising $11,920 to support our Office of Diversity and Inclusion!

Dean Tracy Langkilde offered generous personal matching funds, and our alumni, friends, and faculty responded with true We Are spirit.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s comprehensive programs provide support to our underrepresented students and can make all the difference in their retention and success, especially in these challenging times. Your Giving Tuesday gifts will have a direct impact on these students’ lives and scientific careers, helping them thrive in a diverse scientific community.

Led by Associate Dean Kristin Finch, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion will use this support to build on current opportunities for student mentoring and research, invited speakers, conference attendance, leadership development, and more—to continue creating a community where all students, regardless of background, can explore their identities as scientists and bring their whole selves to Penn State, its research labs, and the greater scientific community.

"Thank you all for your generous and unwavering support of my office,” Finch said. “The funds that were raised will help us continue our mission to provide students with the support and opportunities needed for them to be successful."

On December 1, Penn State presented more than 125 important Giving Tuesday campaigns to the world, with support efforts ranging from diversity programs, scholarships, and athletic teams to joyful singing groups and student organizations as well as endeavors in international, sustainable, and economic development. Overall, 10,427 donors contributed to Penn State’s various Giving Tuesday efforts this year, with $995,131 raised.
