COVID-19 pandemic message
from the Eberly Alumni Board

Dear recent grads, students and alums,

We are the Eberly Alumni Board, a dedicated group of volunteers whose sole mission is to build a community of former students to support current students and future alumni.

Now more than ever, our 57, 000+ Science alumni are a vital community for support and resources. As Penn Staters, we stand together, side by side because…WE ARE.

The evolving situation of the Coronavirus pandemic is unlike anything most, if not all of us, have ever seen. As events continue to play out, uncertainty for many of us continues to grow. Will internships or jobs still be available? Will there be a fall semester? What is the best way to manage my career if I am furloughed?

We are here to offer our help during these challenging times by expanding our 1:1 mentoring program to include recent Eberly Graduates and alumni in addition to current students. Whether you desire a long-term mentor or just someone to offer advice, we are here to help.

Registration for the program is available through the Eberly page on LionLink or by contacting Tracey Moore at tsc105@psu.edu. Participants in the program are matched based on degree and professional needs. Mentors include both highly seasoned professionals and more recent alumni who can offer support related to career choices, job searching, resume writing, interviewing skills and tips, as well as a wide range of topics based on their individual experience.

The Board is also exploring additional options for virtual engagement such as career panels designed to provide students or recent alumni additional perspective and the opportunity to ask questions on a wide variety of possible career choices. We are also considering virtual discussion panels to focus on recent graduates who may have questions or concerns about how to address the challenges the pandemic may create in their upcoming job search efforts.

Despite the challenges of the current situation we remain enthusiastic about growing our Eberly community of new and future alumni and, once again, offer our heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2020.
