Physics Colloquium

Event Series:

In this talk I will discuss recent developments in black hole physics that are at the frontier of gravity, quantum field theory and quantum information. In particular I will discuss how thermal properties of black holes arise from energy eigenstates of the gravitational field in a manner similar to what happens in other isolated many-body quantum systems. I will also highlight how the observation of the statistical distribution of the spin of primordial black holes can provide the first observational test of black hole entropy.
