Being a woman in my field means being a pioneer. Women in physics were few in the 1960's and 1970's. Thanks to the support received from those in the Eberly College of Science and their hard work, I was able to achieve my goals. Dr. A. H. Madjid, who recently passed away, was my doctoral advisor in the physics department at Penn State. He mentored my experimental thesis work and encouraged me to become an independent thinker.
