Penn State's Biology curriculum is designed to help give you both the breadth and depth you'll need to understand modern biology at all levels of integration. Penn State is a top tier research institution; our faculty conduct research on a wide range of topics ranging from coral reef ecology to molecular evolution to the neurological basis underlying mental disorders.
Six options for Biology majors emphasize different aspects of the field, allowing a tailored experience based on specific interests.
- General Biology
- Genetics & Developmental Biology
- Plant Biology
- Vertebrae Physiology
Research experience will expand your understanding of what you learn in the classroom and strengthen your problem solving skills. Work with faculty members in the Department of Biology, or one of our neighboring departments, to research problems that affect society today including climate change, infections disease, evolutionary genomics, and more.
