About Me

I am a general chemistry lecturer and assistant lab director. I teach various general chemistry classes, including both RI and WC. In addition, I supervise various general chemistry lab sections, providing training and support to graduate teaching assistants, as well as the general chemistry students. As both instructor and supervisor, my focus is to improve the general chemistry lab experience.

I have been teaching for about 20 years. I have taught various levels of high school chemistry, physics and environmental science in New Jersey and Georgia before arriving at Penn State. Prior to entering the teaching profession, I worked as a chemist and ultimately a laboratory manager in the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry. This allows me to provide a valuable perspective to our students with respect to a true industrial laboratory environment.

My daughter (B.S. Economics) and my son (B.S. Kinesiology) both proudly earned their undergraduate degrees from Penn State. In addition to my enthusiasm for chemistry, my husband and I volunteer for the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania, as well as other organizations. He serves as event director for the statewide summer games, held annually here at Penn State. I have a leadership position on the planning committee for the Paterno Family Beaver Stadium Run “Finish at the Fifty”, supporting these summer games.
