Honors Thesis
Students generally are not required to suggest their own thesis topics, but rather generate one by working with the faculty. Most students start working on their thesis project with their potential research mentor in the spring semester of their junior year. There are format requirements for the Honors thesis – consult the www.shc.psu.edu http://www.shc.psu.edu web site for templates. There are no fixed requirements for the thesis (such as page length, having to have a publication arising from the research, etc.) Copies of all recent SHC theses are available on-line and can be sorted by name or department area of honors – see https://honors.libraries.psu.edu/search/.
Honors Advising
The Department of Mathematics regularly offers honors sections of 100-level and 200-level courses. These courses are recommended for honors students in mathematics.
