Planetary Science
and Astronomy Minor
To receive a Planetary Science and Astronomy minor, students are required to have a total of 19 credits from courses taken in Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Requirements for the Minor:
- 3 credits from introductory astronomy or astrophysics courses: ASTRO 001, 005, 006, 010 and 011* (see below), or 291
- 9 credits from additional introductory astronomy or astrophysics courses: ASTRO 120, 130, 140, or 292
- ASTRO 401 and 402
- A grade of C or better is required for all courses in the minor.
Students should note that ASTRO 291 and 292 have significant prerequisites and as introductory astrophysics courses (as opposed to introductory astronomy courses), they assume a much higher level of math and physics preparation than the other courses on this list.
*Astro 010 and 011 must both be taken to earn 3 credits to satisfy this requirement; although, they do not need to be taken concurrently.
