Abstract: Professor CR Rao passed away in August 2023. I want to touch upon the contributions of the triumvirate, Karl Pearson, Ronald Aylmer Fisher, and Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao vis-à-vis our field of instruction, consulting, and research. The rest of the talk focuses on Fisher. Three phases will be discussed: Statistical contributions; his uptake on cigarette smoking and lung cancer; his involvement with eugenics.
