Biography

Lucas Koch is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Statistics at Penn State. He received his B.S. in Data Science and Mathematics from Saint Louis University in 2026.

Research Interests

Lucas’s research interests are in applied and methodological questions for the social sciences, with an emphasis on public policy, political and social inequality, and spatially structured disparities.

He is particularly interested in questions involving race, education, urban–rural differences, elections, and political institutions. Methodologically, his interests include causal inference, Bayesian statistics, and the analysis of complex social and administrative data.
