Biography
Kim Roth is a Teaching Professor of Statistics at Penn State.
She received her Ph.D. in mathematics from Penn State in 2002 and her Masters in applied statistics from Penn State’s World Campus in 2016. Her bachelors degree is in mathematics with a minor in computer science from Oberlin College in 1996 and she spend the 1996-1997 academic year at the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics.
Kim is a statistician for the genomics lab of Regina Lamendella at Juniata and works on statistical techniques for microbiome analysis. Her other research interests include scholarship of teaching and learning in statistics, data science, and mathematics, art of data and mathematics, and recreational mathematics. She is a member of the 24 person team of the Mathemalchemy Project, a room sized math and art installation. She is an associate editor for the College Mathematics Journal and on the editorial board for Scatterplot: The MAA Journal of Data Science.
Prior to coming to Penn State in 2025, she was a Professor of Statistics and Mathematics at Juniata College where she helped found the data science program including the Masters of Data Science. She was at Wheeling University from 2002 to 2006.
