The Centre County COVID-19 Cohort Study is a collaborative effort between the Huck Institutes, the Social Science Research Institute, and Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute to study the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Centre County region.

This unique collaboration seeks to study the biological, social, and cultural impacts of the pandemic and mitigation efforts. Since Summer 2020, this project has enrolled more than 2,000 Centre County residents and Penn State University Park students.

Through longitudinal surveys and bio-specimen analyses, the study team is quantifying the effects of the pandemic on both the resident and itinerant student populations.

Matthew Ferrari will discuss the ongoing project, the early insights the researchers have on the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in these two populations, and the opportunities to use this project as a foundation for future research.
