Students Together for Astronomy Research (STAR) is a new program that provides research opportunities for undergraduate astronomy students at Penn State.

PA Space Grant Consortium Research Internship Programs — Link

• WISER - Women in Science and Engineering Research
• MURE - Minority Undergraduate Research Experience
• FURP - First-year Undergraduate Research Program
• Due early November*

Astronaut Scholarship — Link

• Up to $15,000
• Nominations due late March*

Student Engagement Network Grant — Link

• Up to $2000
• Grants awarded 3x/year leading up to fall, spring, and summer terms
• Applications due: early September, mid-December, mid-March*

Erickson Discovery Grant —Link

• $3500 for living expenses, project cost, and books
• Due mid-February*

Research Experiences for Undergraduates

Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Program — Link

• 10-week summer training program: ~$4800 gross on hourly wage/$500 in discretionary funds for mentors
• Find a faculty mentor and apply with their guidance
• Applications due: mid-to-late February*

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships at Caltech and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory —SURF Link & SURF@JPL Link

• 10-week funded undergrad research: $7740 (SURF)/$9600 (JPL) [as of Spring 20244
• Applications usually open in November
