Funding of the Program
From 1999 until 2014, the program was funded by the National Scence Foundation, first via VIGRE and then via MCTP grants. These grants were given for a fixed term with the express purpose of getting MASS firmly established. It was also understood that subsequently MASS must develop private sources for future funding. The Fall 2015 MASS semester will be ‘business as usual’, thanks to the generous support of Penn State, and we are now turning to the friends and alumni of MASS to help us maintain the operating budget and increase the MASS endowment.
