The John M. Chemerda Lectures in Science are named in honor of John M. Chemerda, a member of the Penn State Class of 1935.

19 April 2017Joseph Ecker, investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and professor and Salk International Council Chair in Genetics at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences, will present the 2017 John M. Chemerda Lectures in Science on April 24 and 25 on the Penn State University Park campus. The free public lectures are sponsored by the Penn State Eberly College of Science.

Cepko, a professor of genetics and ophthamology at the Harvard University Medical School, an investigator for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and a co-director of the Leder Program in Human Biology and Translational Medicine at the Harvard University Medical School, will present the 2011/2012 John M. Chemerda Lectures in Science on 2 and 3 April 2012 on the Penn State University Park campus. The free public lectures are sponsored by the Penn State Eberly College of Science.

Wendy Freedman, the Crawford H. Greenewalt Chair and Director of The Observatories of the Carnegie Institution of Science, will present the 2010 John M. Chemerda Lectures in Science on 8, 9, and 10 November 2010 on the Penn State University Park campus. She will give a public lecture titled "New Windows on the Cosmos" at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 10 November, in 100 Life Sciences Building.

Stigler, who is the Ernest DeWitt Burton Distinguished Service Professor and chair of the Department of Statistics at the University of Chicago, will present the 2010 John M. Stigler will give a public lecture titled "The Five Most Consequential Ideas in the History of Statistics" at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, 26 April, in 101 Thomas Building.
