Clinical Opportunities

Seeking out clinical experiences is highly beneficial for undergraduate prehealth students. These experiences provide invaluable exposure to real-world health-care settings, allowing students to observe and interact with health-care professionals, patients, and medical procedures. Clinical experiences offer a unique opportunity to apply and reinforce knowledge gained in the classroom, bridging the gap between theory and practice. They provide firsthand insights into the daily challenges, ethical considerations, and interdisciplinary collaboration within the health-care field. Clinical experiences cultivate essential skills such as communication, empathy, professionalism, and cultural competency, all of which are vital for success in health-care careers. By actively engaging in clinical experiences, students can solidify their passion for health care, gain a deeper understanding of patient care, and make informed decisions about their future paths.

Below are some of the clinical opportunities available at Penn State

The University Ambulance Service and Penn State University are dedicated to providing not only quality emergency medical care, but also EMS education. Training opportunities include Kinesiology 403, a 4-credit, semester-long EMT training program for people with no previous EMS experience, as well as a number of training opportunities for current EMTs. 

 

Many jobs will not require experience or a certification, but these Penn State classes teach skills that will give you an advantage and demonstrate seriousness about your commitment to healthcare.
