Graduation and Commencement

Main Content

The spring 2017 undergraduate commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 9:00 am in the Bryce Jordan Center.

At the beginning of the semester in which you plan to graduate, you must apply for graduation in LionPATH during the Intent to Graduate Activation Period.  Before you can be certified for graduation, it is your responsibility to ensure that all degree requirements have been met and it is a good idea to meet with your academic adviser while readying for graduation.

Graduation Procedures

Follow these steps to ensure you will complete your degree:

  1. Review your "Degree Audit" to verify that your degree requirements are in progress. When you are eligible to graduate, the following statement should appear on the audit: "ALL REQUIREMENTS HAVE BEEN MET OR ARE IN PROGRESS."
  2. Consult your academic adviser with concerns or degree audit questions.
  3. Notify the university of your intent to graduate.
  4. If you have missed the deadline to apply for graduation during the activation period in LionPATH, please contact your adviser or the undergraduate program office of your major.

Learn more about graduation procedures in the University Undergraduate Advising Handbook and the University Registrar.

Eberly College of Science Commencement Policy

Commencement Coordinator
Lynne O'Cain

The commencement ceremony is an event that marks a major milestone for graduates and their families.

To preserve this tradition and the meaning of commencement as a celebration of the completion of the degree, Penn State Science has established this policy:

Only Penn State Science seniors who have completed all degree requirements for graduation and filed their intent to graduate are permitted to walk across the stage and have their names read at the commencement ceremony.

All students who have applied for graduation in spring 2017 will receive an email from the commencement coordinator on or about March 24, 2017. The email will include a link to a brief senior survey each graduate will be asked to complete prior to picking up his/her graduation packet.

The graduation packet contains detailed information and instructions about the commencement ceremony. It also includes your name card, which is your ticket to the event floor on the day of the commencement ceremony.

Please bring your name card with you on the day of commencement. If you don't have a name card, please stop at the registration table on the event floor to get a replacement card.

Graduates should plan their arrival NO LATER than 8:15 am. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 am and last approximately 90 minutes.

Guest seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on the concourse level. Tickets are not required for the ceremony. There is no guest limit -- relatives and friends are welcome to attend. Users will be available if assistance is needed.

The Eberly College of Science Commencement Ceremony will also be streamed live. Please share the following link with family and friends: Eberly College of Science Commencement Ceremony.

Additional information for graduates can be found on the Office of Strategic Communications's commencement website.
